
Lion Headdress
Created for Chapman University’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Time to Complete: Approx. 30 hours
Base of headdress made from a helmet and styrofoam.
Starting to build out the face structure with lightweight clay.
Base for ears made of wire, cardboard, and clay.
Covered base structure with tan fleece.
Individual fabric strips glued to muslin veil to create the mane.
Eyes sculpted from clay and painted.
Whiskers made from individually painted pieces of straw inserted into styrofoam.
Teeth sculpted from clay and wrapped in organza.
